I’m happy to see the Supreme Court making favorable decisions on LGBT+ and DACA.

US Corollary: it is so important people get out and vote in November and do so from the smallest race up through Presidency. Every single seat matters.

Both our kids and I had dental checkups this afternoon. It didn’t feel as weird as I thought it would. Really the only strange thing was waiting in the car for our temperature checks. Otherwise pretty routine. 🦷

Watched the first English Premiere League soccer game since shutdown. They all kneeled to start, all jerseys have ‘Black Lives Matter” and there are banners around the stadium. Wonder what US sports will do?

Note: if you don’t follow soccer racism is an issue at games worldwide

Chalk art from the exercise trail this morning. Particularly poignant for us atm.

It’s been a rough week for my wife. Her dad died Sunday night and she’s been focused on making arrangements from nearly 2,000 miles away taking into account the virus. That’s about done so she can finally start to grieve. They weren’t close but it still takes a toll.

Some good news in treating the most severe cases

Scientists hail dexamethasone as ‘major breakthrough’ in treating COVID-19 - Reuters

Dexamethasone, a cheap and widely used steroid, has become the first drug shown to be able to save lives among COVID-19 patients

I recently dumped my Eve HomeKit accessories and replaced them with Aqara. I’ve been very pleased. I got an extra wireless mini switch and have it setup to trigger one of 3 different playlists on my HomePods. Snazzy as our teen likes to say. Easier than Siri.

While exercising I noticed some critter has created a home. I haven’t figured out what sort of hidey-hole this is.

A glorious sight first thing this morning while out exercising. πŸ“· β˜€οΈ ☁️

My wife and I went out to eat for the first time since the virus hit. We went early so we would be comfortable social distancing would be easy to accomplish. It worked out well and we enjoyed having time together outside the house to chat.

We’re at a loss. Our 5th grade son is gifted and got nothing out of the last couple of months of ‘home learning’ forced by the virus. With the prospect of more this fall it feels like he will waste a few years of learning or we can switch to home schooling. No idea what to do.πŸ˜”

For the first time since the virus hit my wife and I went out to dinner. For our anniversary. We are socially distanced. 🍴 🍸

Interesting… …it’s the superspreaders we need to stop

as little as 10 percent to 20 percent of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 may be responsible for around 80 percent of transmission… a stunning 70 percent of infected people may not pass the virus to anyone

After much study and thought our daughter has upgraded her hamster’s home to a 40 gallon aquarium tank with ample entertainment devices. The little guy, Uno, has turned out to be very friendly and will go in anyone’s hand for a scamper. 🐹

Bracing for a large water bill for June as we try to keep the new sod from burning up in the Texas heat. The shade trees on the side of the house matured to the point the Bermuda couldn’t survive so now it is on to St Augustine.

Best Buy had the Nintendo Switch Labo starter kit for $20 on sale last week so I took the plunge. We spent the whole afternoon putting together parts of the kit and playing the included games. Pretty good value so far. Can’t wait to use it with Zelda BOTW.

For reasons I can’t figure out someone is using my private email address to make a range of travel reservations. They’re not using my credit card info so I can’t figure out what the deal is. I changed my password yet this afternoon I was flooded with AirBnB reservations. πŸ€”

For the first time in our lives we got sushi to go from our favorite restaurant. They were very happy to see us! When we picked up the order they let us know if we make a reservation they will seat us inside even though they have a big sign up that says ‘take out only”. 🍣

When I went to bed last night the whiteboard was blank. Awoke to find some sort of Kirby drawing frenzy took place. I’ll be curious to hear the story when the family wakes up.

After asking for more than a year, our teenage daughter pressed us again to let her have a hamster. We decided she was ready for the responsibility to take care of it on her own so we now have a new family member. Habitat improvements in progress. 🐹

View from our back patio tonight.

Being a space nerd, I’m enjoying watching the live feed of the docking procedure between Dragon and the ISS this morning. Very chill. πŸš€

Another one bites the dust: deleted the Slack app since the micro.blog/indieblog slack was the last one I still used. Glad to see it go.

The Bundesliga matches are using piped in crowd noise and it is surprisingly a good thing. ⚽️
