I printed this Spiderman themed headphone stand for our son who is a big fan. I surprised him with it and he was delighted. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4753064

I don’t remember who recommended Mastoot as a Mastodon client but Thank You. I’ve tried at least a half dozen and this is clearly my fave.

Look at those clouds!

Yeah, I couldn’t see any either. We’re having one of those severe clear winter days and it is glorious.

Finally got around to enabling Stage Manager on macOS. It seems useful but time will tell.

I’m feeling tempted to replace my 27” (Intel) iMac with the (theoretical) 2023 Mac mini and a high end external display. I’m starting to feel having a high end display integrated with a CPU like the iMac isn’t the best idea. CPUs change more/faster.

TIL there is a free measuring tool in the Cura Marketplace. If I'd thought to check I could have saved myself some frustration and time.

😀 I’m enjoying my switch to a wireless mechanical keyboard. What took me so long?

This 3D print has diagonal lines running toward the bottom right and bottom left off of the "center piece". It seems to be a slicer artifact but ?

↗️ Oh nice, I can try out the status.log app! Do wish there a search field for emojis.

I 3D printed this vase design for my wife using Eryone silk PLA. It has a nice silver shimmer to it and Cura’s seam hiding worked well.

I’m not sure why but I really like the design on this nengajo (Japanese New Year’s card). And I appreciate the get well message. Yuka’s been a good friend for many years.

This is my first articulated model. Pretty happy with it. It looks good, has a nice rattle when it shakes its tail, and feels durable.

I printed this nifty, compact, case to hold SD cards, adapters and micro SD cards. Not perfect but it will do the job.

One of my relatively ancient Arduino project’s micro SD card apparently went south. The project uses the oddball Arduino Yun board and provides an info display the family relies on so hopefully I can get it going again.

I think I finally have PETG setup halfway decent. I like the way this baby Groot turned out.

Running the Retraction test on my printer trying to get it dialed in for PETG. I’m at the stage where I feel a bit lost tweaking settings trying to get there.

My first attempt at a PETG print was the ubiquitous Benchy. Turned out decent even before cleaning it up. I have yet to print anything tall. I need to look for something interesting.

🤞 Trying to 3D print with PETG filament for the first time

Feeling accomplished on the morning of the first day of the new year: managed to find an obscure Wi-Fi setting on our router that restored expected performance. 👏🏼

People often regret things they do on New Years Eve. For me I regret binging on Lays… Exciting night eh?🎆

One of the first set of 3D prints I made was a case for my Pi Zero 2 W and Pi camera. I’m running OctoPrint to manage my printer and the camera lets me monitor the print from another part of the house or even when I’m away. Handy since things sometimes get out of hand. octoprint.org/

After having success with a number functional 3D prints I decided to try my first figure. Overall it turned out OK but baby Groot’s left arm is partly missing and replaced with spaghetti. Trying to figure out what went wrong. For now we call it a combat injury.

It was not a bad morning

Yesterday I used Cura to produce an STL file of a 2” storage cube. Today I used Fusion 360 to remix a drawer organizer which seems to be printing fine. Feeling powerful😝 But in reality still a complete n00b
