That kind of day: ground the coffee beans, put a filter in, fired things up and… nothing but hot water was the result.
Missed that crucial step of actually putting the grounds in the filter. 😢

📪 Starting to learn PrusaSlicer for my incoming MK3S+
I enabled Stage Manager on my iMac a couple of weeks ago and we’re getting along pretty well. I use it in conjunction with two virtual desktops. I think it could be a lot better but it is good enough to leave enabled.
Rather fond of the dawn sky
A wild unicorn appeared!
My wife approves my purchase of a new 3D printer. She could easily understand because she went through something similar when she started sewing a few years ago. She started with a basic model but soon grew frustrated with it. Since she enjoyed sewing she ended up buying one that costs 3-4 times as much and has been quite happy.
🤫 New 3D printer ordered. Now a 2-3 week wait for it to arrive.
I've started looking into CoreXY printers. Building a Voron at this stage is a bit intimidating. The Creality 6 seems to be so-so. Having a hard time getting info on others. Definitely want something with either a great community or good vendor support including spare parts.😕

🤔 Going to experiment with the Gridfinity approach to 3D printed storage/lab
My recent frustrations with my low end 3D printer has me dreaming of a Prusa. Mainly because of their superior documentation and support. But the build plate is just a little too small. Hearing great things about Bambulab but they use proprietary parts and support is TBD.

I finally got my Sovol3D printer working decently again. It’s now well into a 12 hour print. It was not a fun process.
In other news, we got a new vacuum cleaner today. Thankfully it “just works”.
🤞 Time to buckle down and try to get my 3D printer working again
I received a couple of Pi Pico W today for prototyping. I’m curious to see if one can replace a Pi Zero W in a garage application. It should be able to AFAIK. I also want to check into power consumption when connected to WiFi.
Welp, I managed to clog up my nozzle so bad a needle couldn’t fix it. My printer didn’t include info on how to take the hot end apart but I (think I) managed to take it apart, fix the clog and get it back together correctly. However my first attempt to level the bed was an apparent failure. Gonna try again tomorrow. Hopefully I didn’t break it. 😬

I printed this Spiderman themed headphone stand for our son who is a big fan. I surprised him with it and he was delighted. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4753064

I don’t remember who recommended Mastoot as a Mastodon client but Thank You. I’ve tried at least a half dozen and this is clearly my fave.
Look at those clouds!
Yeah, I couldn’t see any either. We’re having one of those severe clear winter days and it is glorious.

Finally got around to enabling Stage Manager on macOS. It seems useful but time will tell.
I’m feeling tempted to replace my 27” (Intel) iMac with the (theoretical) 2023 Mac mini and a high end external display. I’m starting to feel having a high end display integrated with a CPU like the iMac isn’t the best idea. CPUs change more/faster.
TIL there is a free measuring tool in the Cura Marketplace. If I'd thought to check I could have saved myself some frustration and time.
