Waiting for my Genius Bar appointment. Daughter’s iPhone 6 needs a new battery (hopefully that’s all). They’re doing a Swift Playgrounds class at the front. 👍🏻

I just saw that the MacPowerUsers podcast group on Facebook was closed and replaced by a discourse group. This is a good thing. I can start participating again.
My 9 year old son is watching a YouTube video that explains the theory of relativity and the scientific theories around the feasibility of time travel. 🧠
I know some of you are huge fans of voice assistants. Me, I would not book a hotel room that had this. No way I would trust it and doubt the privacy statement would be valid.

One of the best luxuries traveling by car readily permits is taking your own pillow(s).
Our hotel just delivered complimentary bourbon to the room. Woodford Reserve and Makers Mark. My idea of a great freebie. 🥃
Apparently some sort of famous race happens here.
Not exactly a bucket list item but we can now say we’ve eaten at White Castle.

First the first time since buying my series 0 Apple Watch I decided to leave it at home for this trip. Just didn’t feel it justified carrying “one more charger”. So analog it is (this is a solar powered watch that syncs to the atomic clock signals).

These photos show part of our room at the small boutique hotel. There’s an additional sitting area with seating for 3 that’s not in the photo. Too bad it’s too hot to justify using the fireplace! My wife was impressed with the lack of dust even in the out of the way places.
We’re traveling without our kids which means we can try out a small boutique hotel. It’s quite nice.
Getting ready for vacation. I’ve decided I’m going to hide some iOS apps I don’t want to reflexively open in a folder off to the side. I can be a bit compulsive at times.
I think @rosemaryorchard might add a section for the various kinds of user created actions in Mojave. At least I hope so 🤓

Sitting in my study.
I’m watching WWDC videos. My 9 year old son is playing on his Switch while providing color commentary on the WWDC presentations. It’s an oddly bonding experience.
Those who think services which promise to anonymoize their data keeps their info safe/private really need to read this.
Privacy Mythbusting #3: Anonymized data is safe, right? (Er, no.)
Got some time, and brains now that the root canal meds have worn off. Time to check the parts of the keynote I missed and start diving into sessions like Siri Shortcuts. Fun times!

Some say experiences enrich life. I doubt they had a root canal in mind.
I’m looking on the bright side: this happened before my trip and not during it.
Another bright side: Tim Cook heard I’d miss most of the keynote so he ensured there was nothing earth shatteringly new.
Am I wrong in thinking Siri shortcuts are powered by Workflow tech?
A well done WWDC opening video.
My plan today: sit in my study and watch the WWDC keynote live.
The reality today: woke with a massive toothache and have a dentist appoint 45 minutes after the keynote starts (i.e. right about when they talk about the good stuff).
