Here sits the only person in the US that thinks Appleās News+ has merit and plans to continue his subscription.
True based on every review Iāve seen posted.
My decision is based on the very broad selection of quality magazines included in the price.
The UI does suck.
This is why I hate YouTube. And Twitter.
The first image of a black hole made her a celebrity. Then internet trolls descended.
I just finished reading Madame Fourcadeās Secret War, a NYT best seller. An excellent read.
The story of Marie-Madeleine Fourcade, born to privilege, the daring young woman who headed the largest and most influential spy network in occupied France during World War II.
Itās an indoor kind of day with multiple rain storms passing from the south. I built a new weather alert device for the family this week and these storms have been perfect for testing it as waves of alerts come and go.

Interesting - the Wall Street Journal is going to take a swing at restoring public comments on (some) news content. I wish them luck while remaining quite cynical.

Since Drafts came out on macOS Iām using it a surprising amount for debugging. Iāve always wanted a instantaneous place to paste logs or other info during analysis. Drafts makes the process fast and itās super easy to markup the output while investigating. //@agiletortoise
In the past I had the habit of opening a social media app when I wanted a distraction or had a few minutes to kill. Since deleting my Facebook account and stopping usage of Twitter & Instagram Iām using those moments to open my mind to real life topics. Very beneficial.
Our 10 year old son just delivered a 30 minute rant about fake science videos on YouTube. It was interesting to hear his thought processes for debunking them.
Another reason not to buy a smart TV, especially not one from Sony.

It seems somewhat ironic that it took me until today to notice that the hail storm that wiped out our roof also damaged our backyard weather station.
I think someone snuck in the house last night and replaced my MBP with Windows OS.
Been staring at this in-progress update for an hour with no movement. Not a productive start to the day.

I remember when folks were excited the internet would usher in a new age of ācitizen journalismā. That has not turned out well. What we got was a giant megaphone for hate and bad behavior combined with a crushing blow to real journalism.
My local indie coffee shop is very busy this morning, 3 times as many folks before 8am than usual. Maybe itās the spring weather? āļø
This Financial Times Headline cracked me up this morning:

Iāve long used the Atom editor+PlatformIO for bare metal software development. After hearing steady praise for it, I finally gave Visual Studio Code+PlatformIO a try. Not generally a fan of Microsoft software but after a week of fits and starts Iāve made the switch to VS Code.
Today I read a new magazine in News+ as well as some in-depth articles from others. Visually it is appealing and I was favorably impressed. The UI isnāt obvious and the only way to discover navigation is via trial and error which rather sucks. Iād give the magazines section a āBā
Last night I mentioned the list of āMy Magazinesā in News+ didnāt make sense and didnāt update when I read one. This post from Apple shows how to control it. I have no idea why it thought I wanted to read ESPN but at least I can remove it now.
There are some magazines on this list that might change my mind about News+. There are 2 on the list that are 2 of the only 3 remaining subscriptions I have left.

I didnāt think thereād be much in todayās Apple event to interest me but both the Apple Card & Apple Arcade are appealing. I like the emphasis on privacy & that the Arcade would encourage more āno in-app purchaseā games. Should be great for kids. Nintendo should copy it.
As a result of last nightās massive hail storm our neighborhood is suffering a traffic jam starting by 8:30am - lines of suspect roofing companies going door-to-door soliciting (we have a no soliciting sign). Also by 10am I got an email from a roofing company Iāve never heard of.
We just went through a 30 minute hailstorm. Never been in one that long. The hail ranged in size from 3/4ā to 1 1/2ā. The cars parked outside lost their windshields. Fortunately ours are in the garage and no broken windows. Claim filled and roofer contacted. Fingers crossed.

It was a beautiful day on the trail today. Surprised it was so deserted. Spring weather here is off to a great start.
On a whim tonight I turned on a college softball game in the ESPN app. Wouldnāt you know it the game has now gone into 4 extra innings and still going. ā¾ļø
