I have gone to the dark side… Also wide. Bought an Apple keyboard with numpad to replace my silver one without. Iβm excited to have the Control key back where it belongs.

We enjoyed riding a train pulled by this steam locomotive. It passed through a lovely bit of countryside. From the archive.

Neither my wife nor I have ever made a cake from scratch. Today we tried imitating my mom’s coffee cake I loved so much. Mistakes were made but we recovered and the result was good. Definitely have ideas on how to make it better. Just wish we had mom’s recipe.
We voted! πΊπΈππΌ
Early voting started yesterday but when I drove by the line was 2 blocks long to get in. Today when I drove by the line was like this so my wife and I seized the moment. 1,486 people voted in this location yesterday, a couple hundred would be normal.
I replaced my MBP+Monitor setup with a 27” iMac. Freed up desk space and eliminated a bunch of cables.
One radio is monitoring 2m VHF, the other FT8 on 14m.

Posted for a day in the life #adayinthelife
Once we broke the seal on our hotel room everything inside was quite normal, i.e. clean with no odd smells. The staff and guests all followed CDC guidelines. This combined with nightcaps led to my wife and I sleeping 12 hours last night. ππΌππ¨
Ahhh Manhattan
Our first night at a hotel since February. π¨ Nice to get away if only briefly.
Our long-awaited family member arrived π₯. For once I didn’t even have to wait all day for FedEx (arrived at noon).
Homemade lumpia with our dinner π½
The good news is I have my memory upgrade now. The bad news is there is no sign of Apple shipping the iMac it is intended for. π’
Our 6th grader writing a short story at school. He prefers his iPad and keyboard to a laptop. π« Socially distanced and all masked up.
I have never seen so many handles and grade choices on a gasoline pump before.
Life is so complicated these days π π
Overall I’m loving widgets in iPadOS 14. I added this one on uplifting news and was immediately depressed by the caption.
On clicking through it was the truncation - the next word was “prevention”. π¬
Unexpected find on the trail this morning… Party on!
Lovely sky at dawn this morning
A coyote came a bit closer than I’m comfortable with while I was exercising. This hastily taken/crappy photo, taken from the safety of my house, is of it from a few days ago.
We love to travel but being cautious I have no idea when we will get to do so again

A family of armadillos was a surprise discovery in our neighborhood. First time seeing them since we moved here (>10 years).

Our daughter’s hamster amidst his bedding which somewhat resembles snow flakes.

I have mixed emotions when I view this photo. On the positive side the kids had a blast on this outdoor field trip. The downside is it was the last field trip before Covid and so far no field trips are planned for 2020-2021. So much robbed joy.

Going out at dawn for exercise as often as possible is one of the main ways I try to overcome the negative psychological impacts of the Covid virus.
