First time in a very long time: hanging out at a local indie coffee shop on a rainy day getting some work done. โ๏ธ
Itโs a glorious day for some patio time. Being in Texas we have to cherish these before the summer heat sets in.
I built a spice/condiment rack on my wifeโs outdoor potting bench/cooking station. Pictured with and without her charcoal hibachi and sterno grills. This bench sits next to our Weber grill.
Chores all morning. Now being lazy in perfect weather.
We all went to the patio after Easter dinner for a nice chat and chill time together followed by the kids doing a duet of the song 1, 2, 3. A great end to the most important day on our calendar. Perfect weather for it too. Feet up! ๐งฆ
Now with some furniture and the grill out. Not seen: potting bench.
Lots of landscape work and sod needed next. ๐ธ ๐บ Garden, also not seen, is off to a great start. ๐ชด
Our new back patio is ready for use. We assembled our new patio furniture today and will set everything out tomorrow. The furniture was easy. Breaking down all…the…cardboard for recycling aged me ๐ Next up is to refresh the landscaping.
My wife got her Moderna dose #1 today and didnโt feel like a meal so I ate out with our 12 y/o son. Dinner topic: the properties and use of hydrogen.
Photo: a very well done Manhattan. ๐ธ
Todayโs project: stain, seal and then assemble a potting workbench for my better half. She likes it so Iโm happy ๐
N.B. Weโre keeping it inside a couple of days until the backyard work is finished. ๐ชด
Current view.
New patio, work day 2. Yesterday was a rain out but this morning the concrete was poured, stained and patterned. Tomorrow it will be cleaned. Next week individual โstonesโ will be dyed and the whole thing sealed. Happy so far.
As my wife says we are โfinallyโ putting in a patio expansion in the backyard. The forms and rebar are complete. They might have to wait until Friday to pour the concrete due to possible rain Wednesday and Thursday.
Rainy days and Mondays
Icing (pea-ing?) my knee. I was up on a ladder for a bit after dinner and when I finished the left knee had something like a contusion on the outside. A painful ridge. But I didnโt hit it on anything. Not sure what it is other than a sign of getting older. ๐
It looks like all of our Indian Hawthorne succumbed to the record cold. Itโs a shame as they were fully mature and well shaped. Our foundation trees (oak and live oak) all made it as did our Japanese maple. Not sure about the crepe myrtle yet. ๐ณ๐ค
The redbuds and ornamental pears are blooming right on schedule in spite of last monthโs record lows.
Of masks, Manhattans and Stella. ๐บ ๐ธ ๐ท
A rarely used possession out for a brief trip. ๐
I havenโt washed my car in months. A perfect morning to watch other people work. ๐
Made a 150 mile round trip drive today to trade my VHF/UHF radio for a better one. Got a great price on my trade (only 8% less than what I paid for it). The weather was perfect for a drive in the countryside so that was an extra bonus.
Morning cortado. Enjoying our new local indie coffee shop.
A dietary wickedness but delicious indulgence while waiting on an order of Carnitas to go.
It makes me really happy to see the city is continuing to expand our large network of exercise paths. This extension starts at the northern city limits and extends to the east. ๐โโ๏ธ
