We all went to the patio after Easter dinner for a nice chat and chill time together followed by the kids doing a duet of the song 1, 2, 3. A great end to the most important day on our calendar. Perfect weather for it too. Feet up! 🧦

Now with some furniture and the grill out. Not seen: potting bench.
Lots of landscape work and sod needed next. 🌸 🌺 Garden, also not seen, is off to a great start. 🪴
Our new back patio is ready for use. We assembled our new patio furniture today and will set everything out tomorrow. The furniture was easy. Breaking down all…the…cardboard for recycling aged me 😂 Next up is to refresh the landscaping.
Damn this sheningans is pervasive. Everyone is in on monetizing users.

Yesterday I assembled a cabinet+ironing board furniture combo and then a new sewing table for my wife’s she-cave. Tomorrow I have a set of patio furniture to put together. Guess which one I’ll enjoy more…
Question: For anyone who switched from a gen 1 iPad Pro keyboard (12.9”) to the new ‘floating’ version: what has been the downside of the new design / what do you miss about the old version? I’m thinking of upgrading…
It just dawned on me that under Texas rules our teenage daughter can get a Covid vaccine. Doesn’t seem right to sign her up yet though. Not sure. She does want to work this summer.💉
One complaint I often hear non-users have against ProtonMail is it is only “safe” when sending to other PM users. Here’s a reminder how to send an encrypted message to a non PM user.
My wife got her Moderna dose #1 today and didn’t feel like a meal so I ate out with our 12 y/o son. Dinner topic: the properties and use of hydrogen.
Photo: a very well done Manhattan. 🍸
Today’s project: stain, seal and then assemble a potting workbench for my better half. She likes it so I’m happy 😃
N.B. We’re keeping it inside a couple of days until the backyard work is finished. 🪴
Current view.
I got an email from our 12 y/o’s school about a Junior Police Academy this summer and ignored it. I was surprised when he got home and said he wanted to attend so I signed him up. He has no interest in that as a career, just wants to learn about something he thinks is important.
Whoa, what a great day! I was able to schedule my wife for a Covid vaccination for the 30th, the first day our city offers it for all adults. We can start to plan some activities soon. 😃
New patio, work day 2. Yesterday was a rain out but this morning the concrete was poured, stained and patterned. Tomorrow it will be cleaned. Next week individual ‘stones’ will be dyed and the whole thing sealed. Happy so far.
As my wife says we are “finally” putting in a patio expansion in the backyard. The forms and rebar are complete. They might have to wait until Friday to pour the concrete due to possible rain Wednesday and Thursday.
Texas is opening up Covid vaccination to all adults starting March 29th. This really has my hopes up that my wife can get vaccinated in time for some summer travel! 🚙 Currently those 50 and up are eligible.
Rainy days and Mondays
I’ve used Feedbin to follow Engadget’s rss for a long time. But this week it appears Engadget is preventing Feedbin from showing article summaries (first couple of sentences). Only the headline and a photo are shown. I need to find a new feed to follow. 😖 Ars Technica still ok
Icing (pea-ing?) my knee. I was up on a ladder for a bit after dinner and when I finished the left knee had something like a contusion on the outside. A painful ridge. But I didn’t hit it on anything. Not sure what it is other than a sign of getting older. 😞
It looks like all of our Indian Hawthorne succumbed to the record cold. It’s a shame as they were fully mature and well shaped. Our foundation trees (oak and live oak) all made it as did our Japanese maple. Not sure about the crepe myrtle yet. 🌳🤞
It’s free money day!!! 💵 I.e. our stimulus “checks” arrived.
The redbuds and ornamental pears are blooming right on schedule in spite of last month’s record lows.
We committed to our son we’ll take a trip this summer. I’m hoping my wife will have gotten vaccinated by then. We have a longer than usual list of possibilities since so many of interest are still closed or highly limited. We have decided it will be a road trip. Feeling hopeful!
Of masks, Manhattans and Stella. 🍺 🍸 😷
