Our main TV is 13+ years old and we’re planning to replace it this year. I think we’ll disable the ‘smart’ features and rely Apple TV 4K.

I've never hooked up my "smart" TV to our home WiFi. Apple TV provides the interface I need to access all streaming services. The good 'ol rabbit ears provide the OTA live channels just fine.
@pratik That’s what I plan. I am sure the actual streaming services sell a lot of info we aren’t aware of but I trust TV makers even less. And I think Apple at least makes a bit of effort to protect users.
Yup. I don't trust Hulu either since their ads are just a notch below Instagram in creepiness.
